This book contains materials which constitute the foundation of district planning process in India. Its publication coincides with the 60th birth anniversary of Dr. K.V. Sundaram who firmly believes in capability building of the personnel at grass-root levels for ensuring effective decentralisation of planning and development processes and who has contributed so immensely of the theory and practice of district planning. The volume deals with the concepts of spatial planning, district development scheme, basic issues involved in district planning and revitalising Panchayati Raj.
